Last weekend beetled over to Young, NSW, to help celebrate the launch of our friend Prue Hufton’s brand new online business Olive & Clover. I brought the food, the Addy and Geoff Nuthall supplied the venue and Prue provided the reason to get together and the clothes and accessories in which to do it in style.
Harden-based Prue (pictured above and a few photos down, glamourously holding my tray of iceberg salad!), launched her online store just yesterday and it’s a stunner; full of fashion and accessories that will have you stopped in the street by women wanting to know where that shirt/necklace/dress/whatever came from.
I was thrilled when Prue asked me to join her new blog with a regular food post and my first offering went live just today, featuring a collection of the recipes I cooked for this lunch. These include a starter of Mandagery Creek Venison from our own farm, amazing slow-cooked duck raised by Geoff and Addy, a few yummy salads and then a rich rhubarb tart for dessert.
Olive and Clover Spring lunch, August 31
Seared Mandagery Creek Venison on crostini with broad hummus and dukkah
Slow-cooked duck breast with wedge iceberg salad and avocado dressing
Blood orange, watercress and almond salad
Nigella seed breadsticks
Rhubarb frangipane tart
All recipes can be found on here on the Olive and Clover blog.
Thank you Prue for inviting me to be a part of this awesome new venture and thank you for my beautiful new shirts and necklace – I love writing for you! Thanks also to Geoff and Addy for being such great hosts and such a fun day off.
Just before I sign off…I also wanted to say a few quick words about the Nuthall clan. As you may have gathered by now, Addy is one stylish lady, (she has also joined Olive & Clover’s blog team and will be writing a regular interiors post for Prue too).
Geoff (above) and Addy Nuthall combine many enterprises at their beautiful Young property Dutton Park. With his parents Greg and Barb, Geoff raises ducks, grows crops and grazes sheep while Addy runs a successful interior design business Pink Jam Trading from here too. Together they are also parents to three awesome people; Oscar 10, Harry 8 and Poppy 6.
We love visiting these guys. Their bright, gorgeous home is always fun to hang out in and it’s good/inspiring/encouraging to see such a beautifully run farm in action. Like our venison, Dutton Park Duck is available through Andrews’ Meat and like all professional, caring farmers, Geoff raises his ducks with their welfare an absolute priority. The end result is testimony to this level of care.
Finally, if anyone out there is looking for a bit of help on the home front (design-wise), Addy is a whiz with all things interiors. She has an amazing eye, incredible style and can be contacted here.
