With the new season on our doorstep, it’s time for a whole new raft of events at our Farm Kitchen here in Orange. And the calendar for what remains of 2015 is looking pretty darn fine (please jump over to our events page for a full listing). We have new Saturday lunch dates now open for bookings plus a few other treats, most notably two special events in early December with one of Sydney’s top florists; Amelia Toohey of The Flower Era.
I’m so excited about these events; they are going to be the perfect way to kick off the festive season and I really hope to see some of you there, if not before. Not to push the point but…Amelia is one SERIOUSLY talented lady and her whole approach to flowers, styling and bringing beauty into our every day lives is magic. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and hang with her here in Orange!
Thursday, December 3 – Food and Flowers
Bringing back the dinner party – but in simple style! Join me and florist extraordinaire Amelia Toohey of the Flower Era for a fun, delicious and floral workshop here at the Mandagery Creek Farm Kitchen, celebrating the simple art of entertaining. And just in time for the festive season. With a few simple design tips you will learn to be resourceful in your styling choices and create simple and natural flower arrangements to adorn your table (and impress the socks off everyone too), plus we’ll demonstrate a really easy and yummy three course menu that can all be made well in advance and will of course be a seasonal flavour bomb too. Bring a few friends out for a lovely day on the farm of cooking, flowers and a shared lunch with the odd glass of bubbles. Cost is $100pp and includes a three course lunch, glass of bubbles on arrival and styling and floristry demonstrations and tips from Amelia. I know it’s mid week but…it’s also almost Christmas time so why not get a few friends together and treat yourself to a really lovely day out. You’ll leave with a bunch of great recipes, ideas and inspiration to bring back the dinner party. Click here to book.
Friday, December 4, Wreath Making Workshop
Join us for a really gorgeous day out on the farm creating Christmas wreaths under the guidance of florist Amelia Toohey of the Flower Era. With Amelia at the helm you will confidently learn how to create your own stunning fresh eucalyptus wreath to display over the festive season. Made from all natural materials, you can be sure there’s no nasty floral foam in these wreaths, saving you mess and waste at the end of Christmas. Plus you’ll receive a hand picked range of interesting materials to add to your wreath for colour and texture. Using some creative techniques, your wreath is designed to dry out so well in the Aussie summer heat it will be with you for the whole festive season and many more to come! Cost is $140pp and includes all materials, morning tea and of course your finished wreath! Workshop will run from 10am-12.30pm. Please click here to book.
Please get in touch if you have any queries at all (email is probably best; sophie_hansen(at)me.com) or jump over to the events page for more information and to book your spot.

Miss Effie s will remind you of your grandparent s farm. The rolling hills, clothes on the line and chickens and ducks roaming our gardens will take you to a simpler era. Relax with a glass of lemonade in our corn-zebo and remember a life from yesterday. You are always welcome to bring a lunch and enjoy the sounds and sights of rural America.
