A somewhat pared-back Friday List this week – but full of goodies nonetheless! And above is a little free-form tart we had the other week with the very last of Autumn’s figs. These kind of tarts are my favourite; easy and very very delicious. Basically I just made a batch of the sweet shortcrust pastry in this post, rested it, then rolled it out and filled the middle with quartered figs, crushed amaretti biscuits and a good sprinkling of brown sugar. Then we pinched the edges together into a rough crust and baked the thing for about 20 minutes. You could do this with pretty much any seasonal fruit from pears to rhubarb and even any poached quince that might be still lurking around the back o the fridge…The perfect pud for tomorrow night’s dinner maybe? In the meantime, have a great weekend. Oh, and if in Sydney on Sunday (May 25) get along to the Taste Orange Food and Wine Festival at Watsons Bay. Sadly we can’t make it this time but our venison will be there and loads of our friends and their amazing food and wine. Sophiex
