So…here’s last Friday’s Friday List just a few days late. My apologies! Time just ran away from me as it does so often these days. In any case, I do apologise but here they are, just a few links and good things to read, cook and listen to. Hope you all had great weekends, Sophiex
The Friday List (on a Monday)
Love this new (to me) bi-lingual blog from Germany. Great design, images and recipes.
This blog is another welcome discovery, lots of beautiful tarts, fruit recipes and stories from life on a farm in Maryland USA. Am a bit keen to try these baked donuts.
I’d happily eat this and endless variations of it for breakfast every day.
And I’d happily jump on a plane to discover the Irish Midlands tomorrow too. And also from Miss Foodwise, I loved this post on the last of the herring men.
Since discovering how much I love making and cooking with my own ricotta, I’m definitely going to give this gelato a spin soon.
I savor every post that Annabelle shares with us over at The Dailys, nodding along with her observations on farm life and salivating at the food she creates and shares with her family. Such goodness here. I especially loved this post on town days and soup.
I’ve spent lots of time in the car and kitchen this past week and have LOVED listening to Alec Baldwin’s Here’s the Thing series of podcasts. Holy mother of tones, that guy has a good voice. I’ve also chewed through much of our shared data allowance listening to TED talks in the car, but am satisfied that the investment has been worthwhile as each one leaves me feeling more inspired and awe-struck than the last. Especially loved this one by Sarah Jones and this talk by Ken Robinson about creativity in schools, or the lack thereof. Have developed big crushes on both these speakers this week.

Funny you should say you have a crush on Ken Robinson. I attended a very serious school governance meeting (as an out of my depth parent). We had two education consultants presenting their reports from an overseas trip to share their learnings about the community of education. Suddenly these two, usually prim and upright women, were like giddy, giggling schoolgirls as they gushed about time they had spent with Mr Robinson! Of course I was inspired to learn more and he is now one of my heroes?

Hi Liz – yes Ken is the best! Would that all of our educators felt the same and were able to act on his views about creativity in school! Sophiex

Ooh, loving that elderflower recipe. I haven’t been able to find any real elderflower near us. We have lots of ground elder (goutweed) but the flowers are not the same fragrant ones you get on an elder tree. Such a pity as there are so many good elderflower recipes that I want to try.

Dear June, thank you much for your lovely comment, we must wait a while now for elderflowers to come back in season here! Thanks again. Sophie

Oh Sophie, every week you bring me new delights; books, recipes and blogs to follow; Miss Foodwise is a real gem! I took look forward to elderflower season, have you managed to grow it? I had some success with the variegated leaf variety but none with the regular one, which is strange seeing it’s considered a weed in England. Can’t wait to see the sugar stories…

This list is refreshing! I especially love the ‘how to cook like a farmer’ article and the breakfast bowl video and hopefully will try the latter soon. Thank you for sharing.
